Another gully system which is found to the west of McHugh’s Gully. It is the old route of the Ballarat to Maryborough Road, which was used in the gold mining area. The carts and coaches created ruts in the road surface. These filled after heavy rains and became deeper. Eventually a gully formed. This occurs on the boundary between the Ordovician land and the basalt plain.
