Locality:

7122-418101. Seven kilometres south-west of Digby.

Access:

Rifle Downs Road off Dartmoor-Hamilton Road.

Geology/Geomorphology:

A rotational slide exposes ferruginous sandstone overlain by gravelly clay (Dorodong Sands). The slumped material has flowed further down the valley possibly lubricated by the series of small springs that issue from the base of the slide.

This is an interesting site to illustrate the complex nature of ferruginization of the Dorodong Sands. The site also demonstrates the role of groundwater seepage in mass movements.
