General Land Unit Description:
The gently undulating rises around Lake Keilambete, near Terang, consist of Ferric Black Chromosols. Sunflowers are successfully grown in this unit. There may be minor occurrences of friable Black Chromosols on the higher portions of the maar rim.

Soil Profile Morphology

A1	0-20 cm	Very dark greyish brown (10YR3/2) clay loam, massive structure, firm consistence when dry, pH 5.6. Clear transition to:
A2	20-50 cm	Light grey (10YR7/2) silty clay loam, sporadically bleached, ferromanganiferous nodules are common. Sharp transition to:
	Subsoil
B21	50-85 cm	Very dark grey (10YR3/1) medium heavy clay, dark yellowish brown mottles (10YR4/4), strong blocky structure (20-50 mm), smooth fabric, ferromanganiferous nodules are common, pH 6.2. Gradual transition to:
B22	85+ cm	Dark brown (10YR3/3) heavy clay, yellowish brown mottles (10YR5/6), strong blocky structure (20-50 mm), pH 6.1.
