General Land Unit Description: The undulating basalt hills around Camperdown consist of Black Chromosols that may have a bleached horizon or have vertic properties in the subsoil. There are minor occurrences of friable Mottled Black Chromosols on the hillslopes, and friable Red Ferrosols, Dermosols or Chromosols on the upper slopes and crests. The cones within the map unit are friable, Red or Black Chromosols, and the maars are neutral Mottled Black Chromosols, black cracking clays (Vertosols) or they are water-filled. |
