Lunette Land Unit
Lunettes have formed throughout the study area on the eastern edge of many lakes and swamps. They have formed as low rises of wind blown material derived from the lake beds during dry periods. Due to restrictions of scale, some lunettes have been too small to be mapped. The soil types on the lunettes are quite variable depending on the nature of the material blown from the bed of the water body. Calcium carbonate is often present in the clay subsoil which is overlain by a sandy topsoil, particularly in the western portion of the study area.
