This land unit consists of the Silurian non-marine sandstones. The majority of this land unit occurs as the Grampians Range. The soils are commonly strong texture contrast soils, and many have a strongly acidic subsoil (Kurosols). The topsoil is often sandy texture with a bleached A2 horizon, above a mottled and often sodic subsoil. The soil depth is variable, as is the depth of sand above the clay. Podosols can also occur. Much of this land unit is part of the Grampians National Park.
