In the steeper dissected valleys of the Dundas Tablelands, weathered schists are exposed at the surface. This land unit consists of the steep to rolling dissected Cambrian schist slopes leading to the Glenelg River and its tributaries. This land unit is often found in association with the Glenelg River Granites LU and the Dissected Metamorphic LU.
The major soil type tends to have a strong texture contrast between the topsoil and subsoil and is often not sodic (Chromosol). The subsoil is commonly acidic and in some soils can become strongly acidic (Kurosol).
