This land unit consists of the Cambro-Ordovician non-marine sandstone around Beaufort. The landform is mainly dissected undulating rises, although there are some rolling low hills. The main soil type on the slopes of the rises is a Brown Bleached-Mottled Chromosol. Ferric Chromosols also occur in this land unit. The steeper slopes and the crests tend to have shallower gradational soils (Rudosols, Dermosols). Some redder soils (Dermosols) are found on the better drained slopes.
