Management Considerations:

Whole Profile
  • The soil profile has very high to extremely high levels of soluble salts throughout.
Subsoil (B) Horizons
  • The coarsely structured upper subsoil is strongly sodic and dispersive which will restrict root movement into the subsoil. Dispersion does not occur due to the high levels of soluble salts which will result in less restricted water movement than what would be expected for a strongly sodic soil.
Profile Described By: Mark Imhof, Austin Brown, Darren Bennetts and Malcolm McCaskill - March 2003.
