Habitat: | Occurs in a wide range of conditions from sea level to mountainous regions, and in deep loam to rocky soils (Reynolds 1969). Its native habitat of southern Africa is open grassy places and on exposed rocky slopes, characterised by a cool climate with much rain during the summer months and some mist in most other months of the year (Jeppe 1969, West 1974). Aloe invades dry coastal vegetation, mallee shrubland, lowland grassland and grassy woodland, dry sclerophyll forest and woodland, and saline and subsaline wetland (Carr et al 1992). |
