Status:

Native to Western Australia, South Australia, New South Wales, Tasmania and Victoria.

Plant Description:

Rounded shrub to 1 m high, densely branched with small narrow and blunt ended leaves, 2-5 mm long, lying flat against their stems. Plant covered in white, short and matted hairs.


Compound flower-heads globular, white, 8-12 mm diameter with involucre (flower-cup) bracts with a green midrib and united by curly wool. The small flowers are tubular and yellow.

Habitat:

Abundant on coastal dunes and sea-cliffs along the whole coastline. Wind-pruned in exposed positions.

Comments:

Often used in coastal town park, roadside and median strip plantings and new varieties have been developed by the horticultural industry. Drought tolerant.
