Status:

Native to eastern Australian.

Plant Description:

Perennial herb with ascending or prostrate, hairy, branches and rhizomes, forming mats. Leaves circular to ovate, 4-13 mm long and 3-7 mm wide with a blunt apex and toothed margins.


Flowers white or bluish-mauve, solitary on softly hairy, stalks 15-50 mm long. Flowers are 5-8 mm long, consisting of a tube and 5 unequal lobes (‘petals’). Fruit is fleshy and 4-10 mm long.

Habitat:

Swamps, damp shaded forests. Indicative of fresh-water environments.

Comments:

Similar to
Salt Pratia (Lobelia irrigua) but does not appear to be tolerant of saline conditions.
