B23/B3

90–100

Yellowish brown (10YR5/8) with light grey (2.5Y7/2) and dark red (2.5YR3/6) mottles; medium clay; sandy; moderate fine and medium subangular blocky structure; smooth ped-fabric; firm consistence (dry); friable (moist); common ferruginous concretions; pH 6.3.
Management considerations
  • Strong texture contrast soil, generally slightly acidic. Alkaline subsurface soil
  • Relatively leached subsurface soil, less nutrients, but drainage not restrictive until subsoil (texture and mottling)
  • Increase in sodium and magnesium at depth and decreases calcium; more likely to be dispersive
  • Generally low to moderate nutrient availability.
  • Landscape element; hillslope. Position will often determine depth to variable depth weathered parent material
