Geological heritage sites, including sites of geomorphological interest and volcanic heritage sites, are under regular revision by the Geological Society of Australia, especially in the assessment of significance and values. Reference should be made to the most recent reports. Location:Lethbridge - 501995. Shire of Bannockburn. Road cutting on Maude-Sheoaks Road, 3 km south of Sheoaks.

Access:
Maude-Sheoaks Road.

Ownership:
Crown land.

Site Description:
The road cutting exposes the crush zone of the Hanover Fault. The is a steeply dipping oblique thrust fault and the road cutting shows faulted and sheared beds of sandstone and mudstone.

Significance:
Regional. The site is a clear exposure of a faulted zone and is one of the best sections to show the Hanover Fault.

Management:
Class 2. Widening of the road cutting should be designed to maintain the clarity of the exposure.
