Location:Anakie - 607047. Shire of Corio. Southern side of Granite Road, 500 m east of the junction of Staughton Vale Road.

Granite Road.

Ownership:

Crown land.

Site Description:

A pegmatite dyke up to 1 m wide intruding the You Yangs Granite is exposed in outcrops and shallow pits adjacent to Granite Road. The full extent of the coarse grained area is not known. Quartz and feldspar crystals up to 6 cm in length occur in the pegmatite.

Significance:

Regional. The dyke includes the coarsest material in the You Yangs Granite.

Management:

Class 2. Further cutting or widening of the road at this point should be designed to maintain the exposure of the pegmatite. Filling or rubbish dumping of the shallow pits and removal of the large weathered boulders at the site should not be permitted.
