Figure 2f: Cross section of the piedmont, in the valley of the Mitta River at Yabba Road.
Hardpans similar to those described at Sandy Inlet are also exposed in shallow cuttings in the granitic piedmont slope on Yabba Road (Site No. 12). This is on the eastern side of the Mitta Mitta Valley (Figure 2f and Photo 13). They can also be found on the Bryants Gap road (Site No.13) between the Mitta Mitta Valley and Sandy Creek. Clearly, hardpans of this type are widely distributed on the piedmont in this area.
