This historic Bulletin, completed by J K Taylor, T J Marshall of the CSIRO, F Penman of the former Department of Agriculture and G W Leeper of the University of Melbourne and published in 1933 by the former Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (now CSIRO), concentrated on soil investigations covering five irrigation areas, forming part of the chain of settlements in the vicinity of the Murray Valley that had come into prominence at the time for dried fruits and citrus production.
