Site 4
Land Unit: HN, RM, HM and RF.
Topography: The narrow valley to the west is bordered by alluvial flats. The slopes are moderately steep to the east and north.
Geology: Ordovician slates, Recent alluvium and Quaternary basalt.
Soil: Variable: “Yellow duplex with grey clay loam in HN. Black clay on RM. Red and yellow duplex loams on HM. Grey-brown loams on RF. Possible ancient soil in western side of gully below silt trap.”
Native Vegetation: Red gum, grey and yellow box.
Erosion: The gully has become wider and deeper below the silt trap as the latter acted as a dam by increasing the stream gradient and, therefore, the erosive energy of the runoff.
