540143. Southern side of Mitchell Valley at Bairnsdale.

Geology:

River cliffs on the southern side of the Mitchell Valley at Picnic Point, Bairnsdale, provides the types required of the Bairnsdale Limestone Member of the Gippsland Limestone. The section consists of an upper unit of partially ferruginized limestone with large echinoids and pelecypods and a lower unit of friable bryozoan limestone in which macrofossils are uncommon.
