Bhs20 – 50 cmLight yellowish brown (10YR6/4); loamy sand; single grained; very many ferruginous-organic nodules (less than 60 mm); clear and smooth transition to:
2A50 – 90 cmReddish yellow (7.5YR6/6); coarse sand; massive; slightly fine gravelly subrounded quartz; very firm dry; abrupt and smooth transition to:
2B90 – 100 cmStrong brown (7.5YR5/6) with many, coarse, distinct, red (2.5YR5/6) mottles; sandy medium clay; weak coarse polyhedral structure; slightly fine gravelly subrounded quartz; strong consistence moist; gradual and smooth transition to:
2C100 – 150 cmStrong brown (7.5YR5/6) with many, coarse, distinct, red (2.5YR5/6) mottles, sandy medium clay; massive; slightly fine gravelly subrounded quartz; strong consistence moist.

Key Profile Features:

  • Medium depth of sandy surface horizon
  • Many ferruginous-organic nodules (‘coffee rock’) in upper subsoil (ie. Bhs horizon)
Other Notes:
  • Sandy clays continue to 2 metres depth. This is a very shallow version of the Flynn Sand soil type.
