TV8. Colluvial gravels near Toolern Vale.

Access

Off Diggers Rest Road to Coimadai Road.

Ownership

Private land.

Site Description

A 4 m deep gully has been cut in the colluvial and alluvial deposits that have developed on the southern slopes of Flagstaff Hill. The steep wall of the gully exposes a clear section of the deposits which include weakly cemented gravels and coarse sands.

Significance

Local. The site is a good example of the development of thick colluvial and alluvial fill.

Management

Class 2. The gully should not be filled or the gully walls regarded. Gully control measures have been implemented upstream so there is minimum property hazard by retaining as small active sector.
