Access | St Albans Road | |
Ownership | Crown land | |
Site Description | Six alluvial terrace levels have been recognised in the Maribyrnong River and the lower valley of Taylors Creek. The area has been the subject of intensive stratigraphic and sedimentological studies, following the discovery of archaeological material in a soil pit in August 1965. The archaeological significance of the site has not been evaluated in this report.
Significance | Regional. The terrace sequence is a clear example of the sedimentary infill in the valley of the Maribyrnong River and its tributaries.
Management | Class 2. The physiographic importance of the terrace sequences has been reduced by the amount of excavation and site disturbance. Advice on conservation of significant archaeological features at the site should be obtained.
