Access | Mount Ridley Road.
Ownership | Private land.
Site Description | Mount Ridley is a volcano with two vents approximately 600 m apart. Both vents are flat domes without craters or conspicuous eruption features, the northern dome being the younger at its lava overlies that from the southern dome. The flows spread mainly to the north and east. Sections of the younger flows are exposed in small quarries on the eastern slopes of the northern dome. The lava has a minimal assemblage which is one of the less common in the Newer Volcanic rocks of Victoria.
Significance | Regional. The unusual nature of the mineral assemblage and the twin eruptive centres are the distinctive features of this site.
Management | Continued rural land use will maintain the significant features of the site, or it could be used as public open space area. Residential subdivision or extensive quarrying would lead to degradation of the site by destroying or covering the eruption points.
