Location: Birchip.Australian Soil Classification: Vertic (& Epihypersodic), Pedal, Calcic, CALCAROSOL (clayey).
Geology: Woorinen Formation.
General Landscape Description: Located on a westerly facing gentle slope gilgai hummock, within a gently undulating landscape. This site represents the mound component of the gilgai microrelief.
Site Description: Pasture containing barrel medic.

B215-20 cm Yellowish red (5YR5/6); medium clay; strong coarse prismatic, parting to coarse blocky structure; firm consistence dry; contains a common (20%) amount of fine earth carbonates; some surface horizon material along ped faces; pH 9.5:

B2220-50 cmLight yellowish grey (7.5YR7/4) with yellowish red (5YR5/6) mottles; medium clay; strong coarse prismatic, parting to coarse blocky structure; firm consistence dry; pH 9.8:

B2350-90 cm Light yellowish grey (7.5YR7/4) with yellowish red (5YR5/8) and light grey (10YR7/2) mottles; medium clay; lenticular structure; very weak consistence moist; contains pockets of sandstone; pH 10.2:

B2490+ cmPale yellow (2.5Y7/4) with yellowish red (5YR5/8) mottles; medium heavy clay; strong lenticular structure with large slickensides; weak consistence moist; pH 9.8.
