Geology: | The Fairy Bed Sediments are the most important sedimentary sequence in the Gelantipy Rhyodacite. In Spring Creek the sequence is approximately 30 m thick and is composed primarily of limestone. The limestone contains a fossil fauna including conchostracans, ostrocods, gastropods, coprolites and fish teety as well as some plant fragments. A small excavation midway up the northern spur of the creek exposes siltstone and agglomerates of this formation. These are however poorly exposed.
Significance: | Regional. Best exposure of Fairy Member in Buchan area.
Management: | Site quality would be enhanced by the clearing of debris from hillside excavation. The removal of the limestone in Spring Creek should be prohibited.
