Geological heritage sites, including sites of geomorphological interest and volcanic heritage sites, are under regular revision by the Geological Society of Australia, especially in the assessment of significance and values. Reference should be made to the most recent reports. Location:

695525. 6 kilometres north-east of Tambo.

Abstract:
Exposures of Ordovician slates.

Access:
Five Mile Spur Road.

Ownership:
Crown land.

Geology:
Ordovician slates with steeply dipping cleavage planes are well exposed in road cuttings on the Five Mile Spur Road in the valley of the Haunted Stream.

Significance:
Local. Well developed slatey cleavage is uncommon in the Ordovician rocks of the area.

Management:
Maintenance of clear road cutting exposures would enhance the value of the site.
