Soils of Proposed Soldier Settlement Area - Murtoa
The "Report on Soils of the proposed Soldier Settlement Project, Murtoa" was prepared by J.K.M Skene of the former Department of Agriculture in 1954. It relates to an area of about 689 hectares several kilometres to the north-east of Horsham. This area was covered by a soil survey in 1954 as a preliminary to its subdivision for soldier settlement and development under irrigation. Most of the areas had been cleared for cereal cropping. This report describes the soils in the area.
