Landscape (topography & parent material): Undulating to moderately sloping valley bottoms where colluvial/alluvial fans are the major landform. Moderate slopes up to low ridges or residual hills derived from Ordovician shales and mudstones with a little grey granite. Occasional low terraces.
Native Vegetation (form & dominant species): Dry sclerophyll forest of broad-leaf peppermint, red stringybark, candlebark gum, and long-leaf box, to wet sclerophyll forest of narrow-leaf peppermint and blue gum.
Land Use: Small freehold areas used for grazing, mostly State Forest. Some pine plantations in the south. Water-supply catchment for the township of Yackandandah. Should be retained as State Forest for the protection of the water supply. Parts would be suitable for pines.
Erosion (present and hazard): Moderate sheet and gully erosion hazard. Maintenance of ground cover is essential.
