Haunted Hill Gravels - Princess Highway cutting at La Trobe River bridge, Rosedale.

Access:

Princes Highway and old Rosedale – Heyfield Road.

Ownership:

Crown Land and Private Land.

Geology/Geomorphology:

Road cuttings and a small quarry (on private land) expose a 10 metre section of Haunted Hill Gravels. The upper six metres are predominantly coarse ferruginous gravels which overlie sands and clays.

Significance:

Regional. The site provides a clear and easily accessible display of the Haunted Hill Gravels.

Management:
One important aspect of this site is the viewpoint provided by the old road to the west of the Princes Highway. Any change in road alignment should maintain this, or provide a similar view area that is less hazardous than standing on the Highway.
