34. Traralgon Creek Terraces - Koornalla

Geological heritage sites, including sites of geomorphological interest and volcanic heritage sites, are under regular revision by the Geological Society of Australia, especially in the assessment of significance and values. Location:590605. Twelve kilometres south of Traralgon.

Access:

Downies Lane off Traralgon Creek Road.

Ownership:

Private Land.

Geology/Geomorphology:

Up to four river terraces are well displayed along the valley of Traralgon Creek between Koornalla and Downies Lane.

Significance:

Local. This site provides a clear example of the river terraces which are typical of the tributaries of the La Trobe River.

Management:

Land uses which do not obscure or destroy the form of the terraces could be permitted.
