Access:

Neerim Junction –Neerim North Road.

Ownership:

Private land.

Geology/Geomorphology:

This large quarry provides excellent exposures of Tertiary Older Volcanics. The quarry faces display several basalt flows and particularly well developed columnar and fan jointing.

Significance:

Regional. Although other quarries in the area provide exposures of the Tertiary Older Volcanics, this site displays the best examples of columnar and fan jointing in the Central Gippsland region.

Management:

Land reclamation projects which may occur after the quarry is abandoned should preserve at least one quarry face in which the columnar jointing is well developed.
