Location: | 196150. Six kilometres north of Suggan Buggan.
Abstract: | Exposures of Suggan Buggan Schists.
Access: | McFarlane Flat Track.
Ownership: | Crown Land.
Geology: | Exposures of schists, quartzite and phyllite occur on the eastern slopes of Mount Menaak and are also exposed on McFarlane Flat Track. It has been suggested that these rocks are metamorphosed Tawonga Sandstone sediments, however, similar rocks are metamorphosed Tawonga Sandstone sediments, however, similar rocks further to the west, are regarded as belonging to the Omeo Metamorphic Complex.
Significance: | Regional. Although Suggan Buggan Schists cover a large land area, their age and origin is obscure.
Management: | Because of the area covered by the site, the value of the significant geological features is unlikely to be seriously reduced by localised land disturbance.
