Geological heritage sites, including sites of geomorphological interest and volcanic heritage sites, are under regular revision by the Geological Society of Australia, especially in the assessment of significance and values. Reference should be made to the most recent reports. Location:
892765. 8 kilometres north of Timbarra.

Abstract:
River Gorge in low grade metamorphic rocks of the Omeo Metamorphic Complex.

Access:
Walk form Camp Oven Gap Track or the Ah Chow Track.

Ownership:
Crown land.

GeologyGeomorphology:
Ordovician schists and phyllites are exposed in the Timbarra “Gorge”, an overstepped valley section of the Timbarra River. The valley sides are generally steeply sloping as the cliffed sectors are confined to parts of the northern slopes.
Significance:
Local.

Management:
Flooding of the valley section through large scale dam construction would obscure the site.
