Abstract: | Outcrop of Wurruk Sand Member (Boisdale Formation). |
Access: | Bushy Park - Valencia Creek Road. |
Ownership: | Private land. |
Geology: | River cliffs on the Avon and Freestone Creek expose the lower unit of the Boisdale Formation. This consists of fine silty sand, and poorly sorted coarse sands and minor gravels. Carbonised plan fragments are diagnostic of this member and on the west bank of the Avon River near Boisdale is a thin bed of lignite. |
Significance: | Regional. The outcrop is one of the few exposures of the Wurruk Sand Member. |
Management: | Access to the site through private land or along the river needs to be formalised by arrangement with landholders. |
