19.2 Wye River Valley

Location:19-480195. Wye River Valley three to five kilometres west of Wye River township.

Access:

Wye Track.

Ownership:

Crown land (Reserved Forest).

Geomorphology:

This is a steep valley section of the Wye River. Mesozoic sandstones are exposed along the valley floor but unlike the Cumberland River, there is little rock outcrop on the valley sides.

Significance:

Regional. The Wye is the most deeply incised of the small streams draining the eastern part of the Otway Ranges.
