2.2 Tomahawk Creek Terrace

Geological heritage sites, including sites of geomorphological interest and volcanic heritage sites, are under regular revision by the Geological Society of Australia, especially in the assessment of significance and values. Reference should be made to the most recent reports. Location:2-033385. Ten kilometres east of Simpson.

Access:

Coradjil Road.

Ownership:

Private land and partly Crown land.

Geomorphology:

This larger site along Tomahawk Creek has a well developed terrace along the eastern side of the valley. At the back of the terrace is a segment of the abandoned higher level river channel.

Significance:

Regional. This site clearly illustrates a particular stage in the development of the Tomahawk Creek valley. It contains one of the best preserved terraces of the drainage system in the north west of the Shire.
