Geology/Geomorphology: | Several terrace levels occur in the Apollo Bay town area, the highest being a ridge above the sports ground. The terrace surface is developed on deeply leached and ferruginous Dilwyn Formation sand which is exposed in a road cutting where it overlies weathered Mesozoic sandstone. The terraces are incised by the Barham River which has a well defined floodplain/infilled estuary margin. | |
Significance: | Regional. These are examples of the various terrace levels along the eastern Otway coast. |
