Map Symbol: Lc
Geology: Tertiary (late Miocene to Pliocene) to Quaternary and late Pleistocene to Holocene.
Landform: Slopes and level areas of both flats and crests of most landscapes.
Occurrence: Longerenong clay occurs as a sub-dominant mapping unit on most major landscapes. It was not observed on the level plain, dune and swale, sand plain, valley floor or river frontage landscape units. The soil unit usually occupies relatively small isolated areas scattered throughout the landscape and often occurs in map complexes.
Representative Soil Type: The only site formally classified as Longernong clay was Site IS5.
Vegetation: Areas mapped as Longerenong clay occur within many of the provisional reconstructed vegetation units eg. the savanna woodland and grassland formations.
