Unit 2 is a gilgai or crab hole complex of four soil types:
The occurrence of these soil types are related to variations in micro relief. The normal and deep phases of Rutherglen Loam are on level areas or shelves, Lilliput Loam is in the depressions and Type D on the puffs and sides of the shallow drainage ways traversing this unit. Type E is irregularly found on the shelves and sides of some of the depressions.
The gilgai relief and the proportions of the different soil types with it, vary considerably within the unit. It ranges from occasional depressions and isolated puffs to a regularly undulating surface.
The frequency and position of the gilgai symbols on the map indicate the degree of gilgai micro relief and its approximate location. Cultivation and cropping have largely obliterated the original micro relief in many places and little surface evidence remains to indicate the presence of different soil types. Marginal and transitional soils are more common in this unit than elsewhere.
