Haven Sandy Loam

Map Symbol: Hasl

Geology: Late Tertiary to Quaternary.

Landform: Dune foot slope and relatively level inter-dune corridor positions and relatively level areas on the sand plain landscape unit.

Occurrence: Haven sandy loam occurs as a dominant soil mapping unit in the sand plain landscape unit and as sub-dominant in the flood plain, river frontage and dune and swale unit. In the latter landscape unit, Haven sandy loam usually occurs in the swale component. Where it is mapped as a shallow phase the surface soil depth is usually between 5 and 10 cm. Sub-surface (A2) horizons may be absent in some areas.

Representative Soil Type: Site IS30

Vegetation: A tall woodland formation characterised by Grey Box (E. microcarpa), Buloke (C. luehmannii) and Yellow Gum (E. leucoxylon) may have been dominant on areas of this soil unit.
