Locality:

7221-595743. Seven kilometres south-east of Heywood.

Geology/Geomorphology:

The surface of the Mount Clay plateau is characterised by extensive wetlands which include a well defined swamp on the northern edge of the block. The swamp sediments include peats derived from Sphagnum moss.

This is uncommon in the Portland Shire wetlands. Such peats may contain pollen materials which may be used to reconstruct previous climatic events.

Significance:

Regional.

Management:

Grazing should be excluded from the western end of the swamp, which is comparatively undisturbed.
