To review how these sites were chosen click on Site Selection Process and Definitions.

Sites of geological and geomorphological significance have been selected on the basis that they either represent a specific characteristic of the region, or that they include an outstanding, rare, or possibly unique geological or geomorphological feature. As such, these sites are of interest to people engaged in research and teaching in earth sciences and to others who wish to understand the composition, origin and dynamics of the physical landscape in this area. See
Site Selection Definitions for details. The sites shown here relate to the three reports by Neville Rosengren only. The rest of region is not covered.

Geological heritage sites are under regular revision by the Geological Society of Australia, especially in the assessment of significance and values. These include sites of geomorphological interest and volcanic heritage sites. Reference should be made to the most recent reports. See the Earth Science Heritage (external link) section of the Geological Society of Australia website for details of geological heritage reports and a bibliography.
