1-26 Glenelg River cliffs - Drik Drik

Geological heritage sites, including sites of geomorphological interest and volcanic heritage sites, are under regular revision by the Geological Society of Australia, especially in the assessment of significance and values. Reference should be made to the most recent reports. Locality:

7121-235930. Ten kilometres south of Dartmoor and three kilometres south-west of Drik Drik.

Access:

Forestry road off the Nelson-Winnap Road.

Geology/Geomorphology:

River cliffs on the east of the Glenelg River expose flaggy limestones of the Whalers Bluff Formation.

Significance:

Local. This is one of the main exposures of the Whalers Bluff Formation on private land in the area.

Management:

Control should be exercised on the disposal of material from road works and clearing operations to avoid pushing this material over the cliff edge and obscuring the section.
