1-1 Ephemeral Swamps - Mumbannar West

7122-089075-037101. 10 kilometres north-west of Mumbannar.

Access:

Ridge Road off Princes Highway.

Geology/Geomorphology:

The small scattered ephemeral swamps are remnants of a larger swamp which occupied a swale between parallel dune limestone ridges of Bridgewater formation prior to the incursion of wind blown siliceous sands (Malanganee Sand). A larger remnant of this swamp is impounded against the most southerly ridge.

Significance:

Regional.

Management:

Stock access to the largest swamp should be controlled or reduced.
