2.2.11.4 - New Irrigation Development

Return to Main Menu | Return to Step 2 | Return to Step 2.2.11 | Next Step

Inappropriate irrigation development can cause environmental degradation. If you are planning new irrigation development outside the existing irrigated areas, you need to go through an approval process to transfer water entitlement or obtain a new ground water licence.

You must be able to demonstrate that your proposed development will not have an unacceptable impact on the environment or other parties.

If you are thinking of developing irrigation outside the existing irrigated areas, you need to consult your Rural Water Authority.
