Pasture growth depends on four key factors, including:
- Light;
- Water (quantity and quality);
- Temperature; and
- Nutrients
Poor pasture growth could be attributable to any combination of these four factors. Additionally, good grazing management is also important for the conversion of pasture into milk.
The following questions will help assess whether your pastures are performing to their potential:
2.3.6.1 - Do my pastures have a good species composition?; and
2.3.6.2 - Do my cows eat the pasture I grow?
