Location:AMG Ref: 475255.

Access:

Off Catani Boulevard.

Geology:

Sandstone of the Dargile Formation outcrop in the river channel with a strike approximately north-south and easterly dip of 40
o.

Geomorphology:

The sandstone outcrops are transverse to the channel and have acted as the nucleus for accumulation of sediments to form substantial vegetated islands.

Significance:

Regional. This is the largest rock bar island on the Yarra River and is a clear example of the effect on channel patterns produced by the north-south trend of the bedrock.

Management:

Class 2. Removal of rock and soil material from the island should not be permitted.
