65. Shoreham - Landslips

Access:Beach walk from Shoreham.
Ownership:Private land.
Geomorphology:An area of hummocky terrain is enclosed by a distinct escarpment that defies the margins of the series of landslips. The landslips have developed at the margins of the coastal plateau in weathered Older Volcanics basalts and tuffs.
Significance:Local. The site is an example of the processes that shape the plateau margins on the south-west of Westernport Bay.
Management:Class 3. The site is a potential hazard zone. Land use planning must take account of the instability of the slopes.
