Management Considerations

  • Clayey profile, possibly a calcarosol (calcareous throughout).
  • Clay content highest in upper subsoil.
  • Subsoil dispersive when worked when wet.
  • Strongly alkaline subsoil, but not sodic at least to 140 cm dominated by calcium.
  • Gilgai micro-relief, caused by the soil cracking when dry, has lead to grey soil occurring in the depressions.
  • Gentle Hillslope, imperfect site drainage.
