Flinders, clay (Fl,c)
This mapping unit mostly occurs inland from the coast between Cape Schanck and Flinders on the Mornington Peninsula. It is also found inland from the Nobbies on Phillip Island. Like the Flinders mapping unit the soils are derived from basalt rock. However, rather than having a clay loam or heavy clay loam surface soil, these have a dark brown to dark grey, light to medium clay, strongly structured surface soil. No soil pits have been dug on these soils. A typical example of the soil in the Flinders, clay map unit is pit site GP59.
The landform is rolling low hills.
